Pinoy Mind Games Tutorial
Pinoy Mind Games is a series of puzzles wherein the goal is to complete a path from start to finish. Some of the stages maybe difficult, but most are actually funny and even outward silly.
There is not a single unique path to reach the end of the game; in fact there are multitudes of ways to do so. What is important is not the end, but the journey :)
While in the game, players might face extremely difficult stages. For this purpose, the Hints feature was added to the game. Here, players can buy hints of varying prices. Some might be of help, but beware, some might just be trying to part the player from his hard earned points. There is no sure way to know if a hint is useful or just a trick, it’s up to the player’s intuition if he wants to buy or not.
One of the exciting features of the game is that it allows players to add to its stages. This dynamic nature of Pinoy Mind Games makes it one of the biggest growing online games for Pinoys.
From here onward, we will be discussing how to add new game paths to PMG.
PMG consists of seven straight game paths. A straight game path is similar to diagram 1.
The first ever created game path in PMG is called the Golden Path. There is nothing special with it, aside from the fact that it was the first :)
The next six game paths are called Elder Paths. This time their name has a meaning. These paths are not for the weak hearted, as each stage is above average of difficulty.
There is something special about these seven game paths:
1) They are straight paths – that is, they do not intersect
2) They are original paths – that is, they do not branch and they are not branches of any other paths
3) Each consists of exactly 100 stages.
A player adds new game paths to PMG using the module Pinoy Game Masters. Here, there are many tools provided on making the experience of adding new paths as painless, as easy, and as intuitive as possible.
When a player creates a new game path, he is in fact actually creating a new branch from wherever he is. In essence, he is adding complexity and introducing unpredictability to the game, which contributes to the excitement of playing PMG. A diagram showing a new game path is shown below.
The new game path has the stages S1, S2, S3, and S4. Its Start node is Stage 1 and its End node is Stage 6
Players can only create game paths that are within the boundaries of their traversed paths. What this means is that you cannot go beyond the stages that you have visited. You Start Node and End Node will be among the stages you have been before.
This also means that you need to play PMG first before you can add your own game paths. The more stages you have completed, the wider the range of your possible Start and End nodes.
Here is a detailed example of creating the game path above.
Step 0: Play the Pinoy Mind Games and complete a number of stages. This is a must.
Step 1: Create your new game path using paper and pen. It has four stages.
Step 2: Once the game is complete, you can add it to PMG using the Pinoy Game Masters. On the menu, click on the My Game Paths.
Initially it will show as empty.
Click on New Path. Name your path as The Treachery of Loki. You need to decide which will be your Start Node and your End Node. Your End Node must be later than your Start Node. Chose as below.
The drop down boxes will only show the stages that you have completed. If you want to see the map of the stages you have been to, click the blue link and it will show you something similar to below diagram.
Save the Path. Congratulations! You have created your first path!
Step 3: Add Nodes to your Path
Currently your game path does not yet have any stages on it. We need to add four stages to it.
Click on Add Node.
Here you can give the name and the content of the stage. You can also Preview your stage before saving it. It is also possible to edit it later. Save your new node and then add three more nodes using the same process.
After doing that, you should have four nodes, similar to below.
Congratulations! You have completed your four stages!
Step 4: Add Links to your Nodes
Even though you have stages, you can still move from one stage to another; that is because they are not linked to each other.
We need to create a link for each node for this reason.
Click on the node where you want to add a Link. Click on S1. This will show the screen below.
Click on Add Link.
The name of the link does not show in PMG. It’s is only for the game maker, so that he can identify the link from others. The player will move to stage S2 if he gets the password s1. If he gets it correct, he will receive 4 pts (or any points you put there) and you will get half of this, which is 2 points.
You must set the End node for this link, which shows as S2 above.
Save your link and then create the other links for the other nodes. Once you are done with this, you must have something similar to below.
These are several screenshots of the links of each node.
Stage 1
S1
S2
S3
S4
Congratulations! You have completed all your links! Now all your stages are connected to each other!
Step 5: Add Hints to your Links
Now that you have links, you need to add hints to them. Typically, one of the thrills in solving mind games is finding hints and using those hints in solving the game. You can add as many hints as you need to your link. Player can get hints by buying them.
Click on one of your links. For this example click on Link S1 to S2.
Click on Add Hint
You can preview your hint before saving it. Save you hint and create hints for your other Links. Note that Hints are not required to have a complete game path. They are only there to help your players if ever they got stuck with your stage.
Step 6: Submit your Game Path
Once you have created all your hints, you are now ready to submit your game path to PMG!
Go back to your path.
Click on Submit to Pinoy Mind Games. This will show the screen below.
The page shows some rules that must be satisfied for the game to be accepted.
As we have completed all the necessary steps, we can now click Submit Game Path.
Congratulations! You have successfully created and added your own game path to Pinoy Mind Games!
You can try it yourself and see that it is really there!
Now you can invite your friends to play and try your own game! :)
